IMPORTANT REMINDER!
My dear People of the MME,
I hear that you and Susie had a good and productive night together!
I just wanted to emphasize that you need to present your work 'in time' next week, as discussed. If you have additional materials that you would like to present (mood boards, staging ideas that are not reflected in your performance/video etc.) they are welcome. Though this is just another step along the way to gathering information and defining your vision, your presentation must manifest commitment and forethought. As we have discussed before, the more you give us, the more you get back.
Of course, for those of you who are not continuing with the class next semester, attend to concluding your MME body of work as we discussed (photographic documentation in context, etc).
ALSO, it is very important that we all see your progress to date. SO, you MUST load good quality images of ALL of your pieces/garments/props etc to the Picasasite, captioned with your last name. This is critical. NO exceptions.
PLEASE remind your colleagues of this when you see them on campus and in your other classes, ie: senior thesis.
Best wishes with all of your classes,
Thank you, Grazie and see you soon!

Following up on the great reference to Leigh Bowery's performance in class, here is a link to that staged birth from the documentary about the artist, and another version here, too from a live show.

When They Were Pharaohs

For Sarah, concerning the godhead.
For Brandy...
I know that this doesn't have too much to do with your work other than the title, but it's still a great song with some beautiful imagery. Just for giggles. :)

Sadler Well's London Dance House: Peacock Theater
The dancing fruit made me think of Marla and the video we saw in the beginning of the semester (couture fruit dresses...A PINEAPPLE!)

Sustainable and Visionary Designers
I thought especially of Jenae, Leanne and Elena when I saw this feature in the NYT: The Coats and Dresses and Shirts of Utopia.
ONE NIGHT STAND : AN EXPERIMENTAL FASHION EVENT
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS FOR THE EVENT NAME.
ITS MEMORABLE.
AND THE SHOW ONLY HAPPENS ONE NIGHT, AND THEN YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN.
MAKES SENSE TO ME.
THE OTHER NAMES DON'T HAVE ENOUGH "UMPH!"
COME ON PEOPLE!

Hi Marla,
I would suggest that you search for "A Pretty Girl is like a Melody" from the Great Ziegfield at http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3ick8_a-pretty-girl-is-like-a-melody-the_shortfilms. This is a GREAT clip from the movie I mentioned in class. The designer is called Adrian (Greenburg). Also I was wondering if you would be interested in searching for the clip of "A Girl for All Seasons" from Grease 2. Perhaps the costumes may interest you... just a thought. You can easily look this video up on google video
I hope this helps

antwerp fashion show
first year fashion sartorialists from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts - Artesis Hogeskool Antwerpen. This skirt project is called "Denim Dreams" and it takes a fantasy to reality (as much as a fashion school runway van be a reality)
i thought this is very interesting in terms of sculpture and fashion
