Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons

Rei Kawakubo, a Japanese fashion designer created "Comme des Garcons" (like some boys) in 1973. She 'defies conventional beauty' by 'offending Western assumptions of tastes and tradition'. In an age when Western culture seems to have taken over the world, I think it is important for artists/designers to realize the importance of international culture.
